Lake Placid High Peaks Region: A mecca for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts.

Saranac Lake Region: A paddler’s heaven, with the Saranac Chain of Lakes and the St. Regis Canoe Area offering a maze of possible routes.

Lake Champlain Region: From the sixth-largest freshwater lake in the U.S., boaters can go anywhere in the world. And the region also boasts a nationally-recognized birding trail, great biking routes, snowmobile trails and scenic hikes in addition to the superb boating opportunities.

Schroon Lake Region: Superb and challenging backpacking in the remote Pharoah Lakes and Santanoni areas, and great deer hunting on huge state-owned wilderness tracts.

Whiteface Region: The place to go for rugged mountain biking routes, and several High Peaks for hikers to tackle.
